So, did you know that there is a database containing almost all known vulnerabilities in software? And, what's even more interesting — it is accessible to absolutely everyone. Anyone can find a detailed description of a vulnerability and, just as easily, an exploit guide for it.
You haven't updated WordPress for about half a year — and voilà: any schoolchild can exploit the vulnerability and, at best, turn your server into a cryptocurrency miner. At worst — steal data or penetrate deeper into the company's internal network through the website.
That is why it is so important to update software to the latest versions in a timely manner.
